From a Westlands church to Newcastle-under-Lyme's first masjid.
Since 2021
Newcastle under Lyme Islamic Centre
Newcastle under Lyme Islamic Centre (NULIC) is a charity registered in 2021 with a dedicated goal of creating a mosque and educational centre for worship and Islamic knowledge. Through the mercy of Allah, within two years we acquired a building at auction — the former St Peter's Methodist church on Pilkington Avenue — which became Masjid At-Taqwa.
We then began Islamic education programmes for children and adults, including Madrasa Al-Risalah, which opened on 3 June 2023. This has only been possible through the support of the local Muslim community and many friends, financially and otherwise.
Our mission
To promote the teachings of Islam and provide a place of worship and Islamic education in Newcastle-under-Lyme and beyond, following the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. We aim to give equal access to quality education and spiritual guidance for every Muslim, whatever their background — and to share accurate knowledge of Islam with anyone who would like to learn.
Within the framework of Islamic teachings, we aspire to help and support the whole community.
